叫我第一名 by 五月天

Katrina

Even thou its far across the Pacific Ocean, it has affected our lives here. Chevron is requesting for volunteers to help out in humanitarian aid. Engineering, Construction, First Aid, IT(like for wat?), Emergency Response, etc etc, skills are needed. I have none. Not dat I dun wanna go. I thot further. Who will cover my work? My sup? And the biz analyst seems to have an interest, dat means, I'll have to cover him. 2 1/2 persons job. I wanna request for pay increment (and change in my job title) if dat happens. Call me a backuper.

Now for political issues. Remember Aceh tsunami last yr? Who was the one who sent armys on an overnight flight? How come tis time round there's no news of them in US? Contrast of attitudes? And it seems like not much countries are expressing their help. Australia pledges USD$7.5 million compared to Chevron's USD$5 million. I haven heard of any other pledges or armys deployed to help.

Maybe its due to the fear of getting the terrorist's attention. This Katrina seems to be sent by the terrorist, camouflaged as a natural disaster. The losses due to Katrina is far worse than the collapse of Twin Towers. If the terrorists were to plan anything now, US will not have the sufficient strength to defend against it.

Troops fresh back from Iraq were sent on another mission. To shoot looters. Doesnt the looters jus simply only loot? Y aint they deployed for search and rescue instead? The recovery work looks messy. And its widely, spread.

All we get in Sg is rain + occasion lightning. We're very very fortunate.
